For many years now, I have thought it would be nice to have a blog, but did nothing about it. Today, it seems so easy and effortless, and so here I am. Well, in all seriousness, I'm here because of my hamster. :) I kept watching him run on his squeaky wheel, and realized I was doing the same thing myself. I want to change that, expand my horizons, and learn everything I possibly can about anything...which includes writing a blog.
So the past few nights I have had both war and peace on my mind. And why not? It's in the media, in the books we read, in our soldiers dispositions when returning home from battle, and online in blogs, posts, rants etc. I really have nothing new to say, but felt it should be said on a blog that I write, mostly for my own sake and memory.
We should never have gone to Afghanistan. There, I said it. We went into something that was not our issue, and have made enemies when we needed allies. I realize that there were "reasons" (that are still iffy to me to this day), and that we needed to "fight" the ones that caused 9/11. However, we are now seen as the bottom of the rung from other Countries perspectives, although perhaps not England nor Australia.
You might think I am here to talk Politics, or the running of Obama and Romney. NO WAY. I'm here to talk about how quantum physics is going to be proved right after all. For we are making HUGE mistakes as a country, and we don't seem to realize it. In fact, we are so far behind the race, we think we are first.
We are engaged in the media, and think we know what is going on in the world. In fact, we know nothing but what is given to us. Yellow journalism anyone? It still happens today. The media moguls have a hand in what is stated, how it is stated and what is aired. We cannot believe everything we hear, but we seem to have fallen into a trap. We are going to find out soon that we cannot continue living like this, and most of us in the Western world will be surprised, shocked, and feel utterly betrayed by our own.
I have read Boyd, read 4th generation warfare dilemmas, and have discussed with people who know better the intricacies of the loss of balance we have. I do not mean in a spiritual sense here. What I mean is that our military service is Republican to the extreme, which in itself is not a bad thing, until we need to learn something new. Then it becomes a rigid and discriminating sect that demands instead of listening to what may help. It's all about control, right? That is what they think. But we are losing that battle too. Firstly, let me just say that I am a military brat, and love our soldiers - so you can see that I am not "dissing" on them at all. Let me give a for instance...
An group was hired to discover the Afghani culture, to assimilate into it and to report back their findings. They did so. What they did was give advice to our military service. They said: do not come to Afghanistan with big tanks, short hair and scary looking machines. Instead, come in robes, long hair, ride horses, and talk with the elders with respect. The more you do that, the more information will be gained. The military took stock of this, then decided to scrap the information (all except for the Navy Seals). What has this done? It has created a division, and one of extreme anger. Do we care? We should, we really should. In all honesty, Osama Bin Laden and those like him have won. Why? He constantly preached about the size of America's ego - and he put in action something that would show the world he was right. Our ego has landed us in more of a mess than not. If you think it will be easy to get our soldiers OUT of Afghanistan, please don't be fooled or naive. It is going to take a big effort, because it already costs us $5,000.00 a tank to cross one border. We don't want to mess with China because they own us, as every person in this land owes them a personal check of about $200,000.00. Two whole generations would have to work for free in order to pay that back. And still, we do things to put us in a position to engage with a very powerful country indeed. We have lost Libya, Liberia, and others, and in all honesty shouldn't stand by Israel any longer. We have done so much damage, and continue to do so.
Have we done any good? Not really. Although I adore the men and women who fight for "us", and who put their lives on the line for an ideal, they try so hard to do right. They have built schools in place of bombed out buildings, erected houses and tried hard to associate with the civilians. But without a cultural awareness, and without a clue as to how to begin listening without rigidity, the efforts will fall by the wayside. Sad, but true.
Where is a balance? We have no peace, and only have war on our minds. This is not the fault of just the media, or politics, or the government. It is our own fault for becoming something other than a balanced country built upon moral ideals. Instead we are greedy, hungry and refuse to help each other out to the best of our abilities. We can do so much more, but we don't. We won't. Even NGO's are corrupt and greedy, forsaking countries in order to be paid, and live well. The American Dream does not work for most of us. Only a small elite section, who seem to care more about hiding money off the coast, and not paying taxes than helping our own. I do praise some for their efforts, but really, let's get real. Bill Gates has money - and he does form partnerships and erect businesses that he thinks will help the world. But where oh where does that money go? Pockets, very very deep pockets. Not to the people he set out to help.
I'm ranting, I know. And I am not going into full disclosure or a "full lay it out on the line" diatribe, because it is something, for now, to consider. We cannot take action against something we know nothing about. All I ask is that we deliberate on what balance means, and that with so many in the past talking about balance, and knowing yourself, you would think we would actually get it, right? Wrong. We are not linear thinkers...I now believe we are circular in nature, and that quantum physics state that our time and our knowledge of time is skewed. It is skewed. Far more than we are led to believe. All we are doing is playing out Atlantis. We are Atlantis. Here and now. I'm afraid we will be lost.
